The Continuing 牙科 Education division at University of the Pacific, 亚瑟一个. Dugoni School of Dentistry is rolling out another great set of courses for the start of 2022. Offerings include informative webinars, in-person lecture programs and hands-on workshops. The programs are open to 牙科 professionals at all stages of their careers.

Dues-paying members of the 校友 Association receive 15% off regular tuition for most CDE-sponsored programs; recent graduates of Dugoni School of Dentistry (Class of 2016-2021) receive a 20% discount off regular tuition. This is Not a Drill: Real Life Medical Emergencies in the 牙科 Office ——2022年2月26日 

This lecture course will cover the most encountered medical emergencies in the 牙科 office, including real-life medical emergency cases. Participants will be guided into recognizing and correctly determining a proper course of action. 专家, generalists and allied 牙科 professionals will find these scenarios helpful to their practice and should be ready to implement these protocols after active discussion.

Live Webinar: In Plain Sight: Confronting the Human Trafficking Crisis in the 牙科 Setting ——2022年3月26日 

Human trafficking is a significant public health and safety issue in the United States. It is reported that up to 80% of victims are seen by a healthcare provider while captive. 经常, victims will not identify themselves or their situation due to the fear of being further abused by their captor. Oral healthcare providers are perfectly positioned to identify the signs and report suspected human trafficking. This course will define types of trafficking, differentiate between sex trafficking and sex work, identify at-risk populations, describe how to identify and report trafficked patients and discuss trauma-informed care. The State of California mandates reporting so this course is essential for understanding what that entails for each practitioner.

Sedating and Managing the Pediatric Patient: A Recertification Course for Advanced Practitioners ——2022年4月30日

This lecture will review the current practice of pediatric minimal and moderate sedation beginning with the basics in physiology and pharmacology and progressing through monitoring, drug selection and office protocols. This course is structured to meet many states' requirements for renewal of oral conscious sedation permits.

With a focus on clinical settings, practitioners will acquire strategies to help navigate the pitfalls of accessing teeth and locating canals in extracted teeth. The course will also cover new biologic disinfection protocols, how to shape canals with a proven safe system of using rotary instruments and how to hermetically seal the root canal system with the latest materials and techniques available.
